Get ready to immerse yourself in the captivating world of bonsai as the Philippine Bonsai Society Inc. (PBSI) proudly presents the grandest bonsai exhibition in Asia. The event opened its doors on June 10 at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia, this extraordinary event promises a mesmerizing showcase of artistry and natural beauty.
What makes this year’s exhibition particularly exceptional is the convergence of the Asia Pacific Bonsai and Suiseki Convention (ASPAC) and the Asia-Pacific Bonsai Friendship Federation (ABFF), a regional group affiliated with the World Bonsai Friendship Federation (WBFF), the largest bonsai organization worldwide. Simultaneously, the exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Philippine Bonsai Society Inc.
Spanning across the SM Mall of Asia Entertainment Mall, Music Hall and Central Atrium, the exhibition will showcase three distinct forms of Japanese art: Bonsai, Ikebana, and Suiseki. Bonsai, revered as a miniaturized but lifelike representation of nature through meticulously shaped trees, will take center stage. Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement, will demonstrate the elegant harmony between flowers and their surroundings. Suiseki, an art form that involves the appreciation and display of naturally formed stones.
The exhibition has garnered immense attention, drawing presidents and members of bonsai clubs from across the Asia Pacific region. Renowned bonsai masters from Japan, representing three generations of expertise, along with six esteemed Asian Masters and six accomplished homegrown PBSI Masters will grace the event, conducting lectures, engaging workshops, and captivating demonstrations on the intricacies of bonsai, ikebana, and suiseki. In addition, a garden bazaar will be set up at SM Central Atrium, offering a wide selection of plants for enthusiastic collectors and hobbyists.
Mark your calendars as the grandest bonsai exhibition commences from June 10 to 12 at SM Mall of Asia. Whether you’re a passionate bonsai enthusiast, an admirer of Japanese art, or simply looking for an awe-inspiring experience, this event promises to leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
