75-year-old man creates dragon hedge out of boredom

Is seeing plain shrubs along your block boring you? Turn it into topiary art, like John Brooker did with a hedge in East Rudham, Norfolk.

In the span of 10 years, 75-year old Brooker used his shears to summon a 150-ft dragon. What encouraged him to create this topiary art on this particular block was his boredom of seeing a long straight wall of plain shrubs. His wife, Pippa, a graphic designer, helped him make the design.

Topiary is an ancient craft of trimming and growing hedges into different shapes. This art form originated in Egypt and is now widespread in Japan and China, particularly in zen gardens.
