Biodegradable coffee cups embedded with seeds hopes to fight garbage with reforestation

Coffee is one of the most traded commodities in the world, which shows the global desire for java. This has resulted in millions of disposable coffee cups in the trash bin every year. A California-based company is out to change that.

Reduce. Reuse. Grow designed a biodegradable cup whose walls are embedded with seeds, which can grow into trees once the cup is thrown away. The seeds are appropriately selected based on their locations in the USA. Stores that use the cups are encouraged to ask people to plant their cups, or return them to the company for planting.

This particular project is one of many campaigns on Kickstarter, the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects.
