The Department of Agriculture recently launched the Malasakit Help Desk, an integrated window that provides information and services of various bureaus, attached agencies, as well as the attached agencies and corporations that include agri-fishery information and data, agri-profiling and validation, credit facilities, crop insurance, scholarships, trainings and seminars, and employment.
Agriculture Secretary Manny F. Piñol encouraged and reminded the DA to continue contributing to the implementation of sustainable programs whose ultimate goal is to feed the Filipinos.
He is also positive that Philippine agriculture is set to bounce back this year with a positive development in rice, abaca, banana, and even fisheries during the first quarter.
The Malasakit Help Desk was launched simultaneously with the regional field units of the DA.
Piñol declared that the government is keen on establishing water systems to expand rice areas to another one million hectares to enable a more productive sector. There will also be a group of bankers to offer financed agri-fishery projects including building farm-to-farm market roads and postharvest facilities.
