Learn the ways and avenues when innovating the farming benefits of remote corn plantation in Bukidnon, Philippines.
By Julio Yap, Jr.
A soft-spoken farmer who is nonetheless a successful entrepreneur in Barangay Iba, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon was able to maintain the productivity of his vast corn field by applying an organic foliar fertilizer.

During a recent visit to the farm of Canja in Barangay Iba, it was noticeable that his corn plants were very robust and had started fruiting (left). By applying Amino Plus Foliar Fertilizer at his corn plantation, Elvis Canja (far left photo) says that his harvest increased by about 30 percent.
Elvis Canja says that after initially spraying his crops with Amino Plus Foliar Fertilizer—which which was introduced to him by Zandro Gica of Profarm Enterprises—he immediately noticed an improvement in his corn plantation, which measures some 170 hectares.
During a recent visit to Canja’s farm in Barangay Iba, his corn plants were noticeably healthier, more robust, and had started fruiting. The leaves were a vibrant dark green, the cobs were healthy, and the stems were sturdy and vigorous. He said that the application of the foliar fertilizer to his corn plantation increased his harvest by about 30 percent.
When asked as to how he was able to maintain the productivity of his farm, Canja narrated that it was his sheer determination and hard work that paved the way for him to realize his dream of turning the clay loam land into a sustainable farm.
BETTER SUPPLEMENTATION THROUGH IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY – He says that he gets most of his farming ideas by experimenting with new and available farming technologies. That’s how he found out about Amino Plus, after Gica introduced him to the product and showed Canja how to properly use it to attain the best results.
According to Gica, when sprayed, foliar fertilizer effectively adheres to the plant’s surface and provides quick supplementation. From him, Canja also learned that plants sprayed with Amino Plus are more resistant to diseases and stresses in the field.

When sprayed, foliar fertilizer effectively adheres to the plant’s surface and provides quick supplementation. With the improvements and technologies he applied, Canja is expecting to have a continuous harvest of corn, which he said would command a better price, noting the quality of his crops.
Gica explained that damage to agricultural crops like corn can be prevented or minimized with the proper application of organic farm inputs such as Amino Plus. Amino Plus can also boost the growth and productivity of rice, corn, vegetables, fruit trees, ornamentals, and many other crops, he added.
Unlike other fertilizers that are also derived from fish and other natural sources, Amino Plus Foliar Fertilizer is not processed at high temperatures, preventing the denaturation of proteins while retaining naturally occurring amino acids, enzymes, vitamins, and natural oil, said Gica.
With the improvements and technologies he has applied in his farm, Canja is expecting to have a continuous harvest of corn, which he said would command better prices given the quality of his crops.
Incidentally, Amino Plus Foliar Fertilizer also contains effective microorganisms which can have long-term beneficial effects on the physical, chemical, and biological condition of the soil.
By introducing farming innovations, Canja is optimistic that the other farmers in the community will also benefit from the improvements that he gained from his corn plantation.
With the technologies which Canja had acquired, he is optimistic that his hard work and sheer determination will push him further to attain his objective of maintaining the productivity of his farmland.
However, becoming successful is not enough for Canja, saying that he wants his experience to be replicated by other farmers. “I am doing this not just for myself. I also want other farmers to be aware that farming is not just a menial job, it is a lucrative profession in itself,” he said.
